Ali Dizaei, what to believe? Who to believe?

Two different interpretations of the Ali Dizaei story.

First, Andrew Gilligan:

Ali Dizaei: A defeat for the race-mongers

With Commander Ali Dizaei’s conviction for perverting the course of justice and misconduct in public office today, the Met has finally rid itself of its single most destructive officer. Many Met chiefs – and many anti-racism campaigners with impeccable records – believe that at least some of what was described over the last few years as the Met’s “race problem” was in fact an “Ali Dizaei” problem.
Dizaei, they say, used his office in the Met’s Black Police Association (BPA) to shield himself from the consequences of his own criminality. Any investigation of him was denounced as racist – and he also wound up other black officers, including the former assistant commissioner Tarique Ghaffur, to press sometimes over-egged grievances so he would not be alone in the firing line.
The Met does, I think, still have a real problem with race. There has been a remarkable lack of black officers promoted to senior roles, a number of troubling discrimination cases and settlements, a tendency for black recruits to leave sooner than whites. Black Londoners are significantly less satisfied with the Met’s service than whites.
But black officers have been badly served by the BPA, and by their most senior standard-bearers, such as Ghaffur and Dizaei. There’s increasing evidence that many realise this – the association’s founding chairman, David Michael, for instance, has denounced the way that the BPA’s decisionmaking became dominated by a small group around Dizaei.

Second, Vikram Dodd

The case against Commander Ali Dizaei

On a summer night in July 2008 ...Dizaei and his wife, Shy, went to Yas, a Persian restaurant in west London run by an old friend of his.
The 47-year-old Scotland Yard commander and his wife left the restaurant and went to their car, where they sat talking to the restaurant owner, Sohrab Eshragi, through an open window.
During their conversation, 24-year-old Waad al-Baghdadi, a website designer, crossed their path.
There was no dispute that a row broke out, but it was for the jury to decide what was said by whom, whether the police officer used his position to bully Baghdadi or whether the web designer had threatened Dizaei and his wife.
The criminal case against Dizaei boiled down to one question – whether the jury believed the word of a senior police officer or that of the man he arrested.
The crown's case was presented by one of Britain's top criminal prosecutors, Peter Wright QC ...
Wright told the jury Dizaei had engaged in "wholesale abuse" of his powers by bullying, threatening and intimidating a man in the culmination of a personal vendetta.
He said Dizaei had falsely arrested Baghdadi, claiming he had threatened him and stabbed him with the end of a shisha pipe during a scuffle.
Furthermore, Wright said a medical examiner called in by police concluded that the injuries suffered by the officer were more likely to have been self-inflicted.
The crown said its case was supported by CCTV footage and other evidence, and Wright told the jury: "These are allegations, we say, that involve the wholesale abuse of power by a senior police officer for entirely personal and oblique motives."
In the witness box, Baghdadi claimed that, when he came across Dizaei and his wife, he talked normally. But he said the officer had become enraged, left the car and squared up to him on the pavement.
He told the jury Dizaei had challenged him to a fight and then ordered him to leave the restaurant after he had gone in for a meal.
Baghdadi said he had left but then called 999 before staying in the area.
Then Dizaei drove up and proceeded to arrest Baghdadi, during which time he was alleged to have told him: "I'll fuck your life."
CCTV footage of the scene showed parts of the incident but, in the absence of eyewitnesses, the only direct evidence that Dizaei had made any threats came from Baghdadi.
The web designer told the jury he saw Dizaei as a gangster "like Tony Montana", the mob boss from the film Scarface.
Set against this was evidence from the officer's wife that Baghdadi's verbal tirade had left her terrified and that he had said he would "extract the money out of your throat".
The restaurant owner told the jury Baghdadi was "a crook basically", adding: "His history ... everybody knows he's not a good gentleman."
Eshragi said that, far from Dizaei intimidating Baghdadi by ordering him out of the restaurant, he had urged him to ask the web designer to leave because he feared a fight might break out.
"I was worried about this man [Baghdadi]. He was in a fight before and disappeared before the police arrived," Eshragi said.
The crown's claim that Dizaei had wounded himself, for which it relied on a police doctor, was challenged by Dr Nat Cary, one of the country's leading forensic pathologists who has worked on many high-profile cases including the death of Benazir Bhutto and the case of Ian Tomlinson, the newspaper seller who died at last year's G20 protest.
Cary said the claim was based on a "fundamentally flawed approach" to forensic medicine.
"He [Dizaei] alleges he has been poked with the shisha pipe," he said. "In my view, that's consistent [with the injuries]."

Dear Red Maria

I have journeyed to your blog Dolphinarium via Father Finigan's blog The hermeneutic of continuity.

Have you got an e-mail contact address I could have?

Father Finigan is familiar with my FOOTBALL AGAINST RACISM IN EUROPE 1991-2010 legal case that involves former Met Assistant Commissioner
Tarique Ghaffur.

The NBPA (nbpa AT nationalbpa DOT com) have completely ignored every e-mail that I have either sent to them direct, or as copyees.

My individual English Catholic case for the defence against neo-Nazi entry-ism into London's Sporting/Planning Arena has now reached a critical legal juncture.

The following e-mail was sent to DI Ian Coleman of the Met's Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS South East) on the 1st February 2010:

Dear DI Ian Coleman

In your letter dated 30th December 2009, which I received on the 5th January 2010, you confirmed that your department, DPS South East, had received my complaint against the police on the 18th December 2009.

You stated that :

i/ it would be best dealt with by the local borough where the officer works.

ii/ that a senior officer would conduct some research into my case.

iii/ an officer from the borough unit would contact me shortly.

You are already familiar with my detailed FOOTBALL AGAINST RACISM IN EUROPE (FARE) 1991-2010 case evidence, and the problems I have encountered since 2004 when John Austin MP wrote to the former Met Commissioner Sir John Stevens on my behalf.

I am sure therefore that you can imagine the surprise, and the extreme mental distress caused, when I received a letter on 20th January 2010 from Andrea Cunningham, the failed Solicitor who represented Sir Ian Blair, when I successfully challenged both the IPCC & Sir Ian Blair, the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis on these FARE Human and Civil Rights issues on the 28th February 2007 in Court No 1 at the Royal Courts of Justice before the Honourable Mr Justice Goldring.

I consider Andrea Cunningham's latest letter with it's mish-mash of enclosures to be an insult to the Office of the former Assistant Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur, and to my qualified surveyor's intelligence too.

John Austin MP has proposed to refer this FARE 1991-2010 focus case to Jack Straw via David Hanson MP at the Home Office.

A fair and reasonable resolution to my FARE claim/complaint is long overdue, and with a General Election, and a World Cup in South Africa both looming large in 2010 it would benefit the Met police to resolve the matter too.

At the next General Election former Met Police Inspector Michael Barnbrook, the malevolent neo-Nazi BNP Police Spokesman, will be standing as a candidate for MP in Father Finigan's Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Blackfen, which is in the late Sir Edward Heath's Old Bexley & Sidcup constituency. Nick Griffin MEP, the BNP's leader will be standing as a candidate for MP in the Barking & Dagenham constituency here in London at the next General Election.

Our Lady of the Rosary pray for us in BNP leader Nick Griffin MEP's EU/GLA/LDA/ODA NEO-NAZI DEVELOPMENT TIMES Amen

Yours sincerely

Maria - might be an idea to take this doubtless well-motivated if apparently rather peculiar fellow's home address and phone number out of his comment. :-)

Dear Red Maria

The treatment that the Times Investigations Editor Dominic Kennedy received at the hands of the BNP on Valentine's Day, makes it vitally important that people have the courage to stand up against the neo-Nazis here in London, and throughout Europe too.

That is why I have not hidden my identity, location or telephone number, unlike the anonymous commentator who calls himself Voltaire's Priest.

I was remanded in custody in Belmarsh Prison as prisoner number BR1249 for fighting against the BNP in 1991, two not guilty verdicts and 19 years later I am still fighting for a JUSTICE NOT VENGEANCE resolution to a 'City Challenge' development case that to date has cost me everything but my life.

Yesterday I wrote to David Hanson MP, Minister of State for Policing, Crime and Counter-Terrorism:

Dear David Hanson MP

FARE JUSTICE NOT VENGEANCE FOCUS 1991-2010:YOUR REF M48/10

Thank you for your letter dated 11th January 2010 to John Austin MP, who contacted the Justice Minister, Jack Straw on my behalf.

RCJ Advice Bureau volunteers including George Burn, sometime FA solicitor and full time Arsenal supporter, greatly assisted the progress of my FOOTBALL AGAINST RACISM IN EUROPE (FARE) legal case in the FARE 2006/7 football season, when I successfully challenged both the IPCC & Sir Ian Blair, the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis on these FARE Human and Civil Rights issues on the 28th February 2007 in Court No 1 at the Royal Courts of Justice before the Honourable Mr Justice Goldring.

With the continuing help of John Austin MP I believe that I have now completely exposed a serious case of malpractice that is associated with my individual FARE JUSTICE NOT VENGEANCE FOCUS 1991-2010.

I enclose a hard copy of a recent thread of e-mails sent to John Austin MP on Friday 12th February 2010.

Please could you allocate John Austin MP and me one hour of your valuable time, to hear my story, and to examine the hard evidence revealed by my professionally qualified surveyor’s case files.

I truly believe that this meeting will be of benefit to the Labour Party in the run up to the run-up to the forthcoming General Election

Yours sincerely

Roy;

Don't be a pillock - I suggested that Maria remove your personal details from public view out of concern for your own physical safety. It's not wise to publish such things on the internet, especially when talking about fascism.

Dear Red Maria

A smiley face :-) followed by abuse on the internet, is a pattern of behaviour that I am only too familiar with.

As a life long Millwall supporter, I am banned from posting comments on www.hof.org.uk the leading Millwall supporters messageboard, where the neo-Nazi poster and commentator,'Bermondsey Male Choir' aka John Davies has branded me Mr 666 as a result of my FOOTBALL AGAINST RACISM IN EUROPE 1991-2010 development work.

I consider both of the comments made by Voltaire's Priest to be abusive, and an insult to my intelligence. I know from experience what the life before death risks are when you opppose fascism 'INSIDE 'n' OUT'.

Dear Red Maria

My work seems to have attracted the attention of Old Nick 666 himself.

I am pleading "not guilty" to doing the Devils work, and my case for the defence 1991-2010 was tabled last Friday 4th June 2010 at the inaugural meeting with my new (due to a boundary change) Bexleyheath & Crayford MP David Evennett at his constituency office, 17 Church Road +, Bexleyheath.

Your SOS prayers 999 for my eternal soul would be greatly appreciated.

Last Saturday 5th June 2010, I sent an email to Darren Johnson the Chair of the London Assembly, Teresa Pearce the new woman MP for Erith & Thamesmead was one of the copyees, and when I got home there was a Dear Roy letter on the carpet that finished with the words, "I wish you well for the future":

The email that I sent to Darren Johnson ended with the following paragraphs:

....John Austin has written to the new Home Secretary Theresa May about this critical case, and yesterday I had an inaugural meeting with my new (due to a boundary change) Bexleyheath & Crayford MP David Evennett at his constituency office, 17 Church Road +, Bexleyheath.

David Evennett agreed to pursue the case on my behalf after reading the insane letter sent to me and John Austin by the Met Police Solicitor Andrea Cunningham, on the 19th January 2010, which attempted to bury the case with a file that she had 'made up' to replace the one lost by Bexley Borough Police after it had been passed to them by former Assistant Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur's Office.

After almost twenty years of cover up, excessive delays, lost files etc, the case is now in perfect focus for the UK Parliament's new Home Affairs Committee. The shock waves will I believe lead to changes at the Met Police, IPCC, and the MPA when the full suppressed truth finally emerges from the depths.

Bexley Greens should also be aware that on the 1st June 2010, Steve Kent, Leasehold Strategy Manager for Orbit South sent all tenants on the Larner Road Estate (excluding Badlow Close) an Initial Demolition Notice covering the period 4th June 2010 - 4th June 2017, thereby effectively suspending leasehold purchase under the right to buy scheme. This must be considered as a serious statement of intent with regard to the redevelopment of the Larner Road Estate.

At the General Election former Met Police Inspector Michael Barnbrook, the malevolent neo-Nazi BNP Police Spokesman, stood as a candidate for MP in the Dagenham and Rainham Parliamentary constituency. Nick Griffin MEP, the BNP's leader stood as a candidate for MP in the neighbouring Parliamentary constituency of Barking. The BNP also put up candidates in all three London Borough of Bexley constituencies : Stephen James in Bexleyheath and Crayford : Kevin Saunders in Erith & Thamesmead : John Brooks in Old Bexley and Sidcup. The BNP Parliamentary AGENT FROM HELL 666, for Bexley's Parliamentary constituencies 999 +, was Mr Michael Barnbrook, 24 Holbeach Gardens, Sidcup, Kent DA15 8QW, which is on the doorstep of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School in Blackfen +

I would be failing in my professional 'duty of care' if I failed to identify, and actively oppose the evil on the doorstep of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School in Blackfen +, and in Greater London too.

I would therefore also like to dedicate my own anti-Nazi, You-Tube video performance at Barking & Dagenham Town Hall to England's first Green MP Caroline Lucas, BEXLEY'S CULTURAL OLYMPIAD POETRY WORKSHOPS, and the 2010 WORLD IN SOUTH AFRICA TOO:YouTube - Roy Hobson's anti-Nazi performance in Barking & Dagenham 2007 (From Dark to Light Too) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pS9cKgj4UB4

Our Lady of the Rosary pray for us in BNP leader Nick Griffin MEP's EU/GLA/LDA/ODA NEO-NAZI DEVELOPMENT TIMES Amen

Yours sincerely
