Diane Abbott - a qualified thumbs up

So Abbott's through, whereas leftwing standard-bearer, John McDonnell has withdrawn from the leadership race.

Over at Labour Uncut she had this to say about McDonnell's standing for the leadership:

"There always was a tendency to say that if women stood it split the vote. I think that there is the politics that I’m on the left, and have as good a voting record on left wing issues as John McDonnell, but there’s another issue which is about gender. It’s not so much that I stood against John, but that John stood against me."

She added:

"I think it would have been easier if he hadn’t stood. If he was committed to gender issues it would have been easier if he hadn’t. Initially, it was very difficult for either of us to gain momentum. If there’d been just one of us standing then that person would have gained momentum much quicker."

I'm a Cruddas camp follower not a McDonnellite. Nonetheless I find Diane Abbott's remarks quite outrageous. John McDonnell not only launched his leadership bid before Diane Abbott; he was also the only Labour MP with the guts to challenge Gordon Brown's coronation in 2007.

Similarly, Abbott's contention that her voting record on leftwing issues is as good as McDonnell's is technically correct but glosses over their political differences. For as her choice of secondary school for her son showed, Abbott is sufficiently intellectually flexible to make decisions seemingly at odds with her political philosophy. She is a pragmatist, in other words, whereas John McDonnell is an ideologue.

None of this is to suggest that I don't welcome La Abbott as a candidate. On the contrary, I do. It is important that an African Caribbean woman is standing for leadership of the Labour Party. Diane Abbott is a formidable politician who has scaled some dizzying political heights by means of sheer gritty determination and the fact that she is incredibly bright. She is a living riposte to all those people who have ever sneered at ethnic minorities.

But it would have been even better if John McDonnell were in it with her. As it is, the parliamentary party has been allowed to screen out an authentically left wing candidate, while paradoxically parading its own diversity and inclusiveness credentials.

Dear Red Maria

David Lammy MP for Tottenham backed Diane Abbott's bid for the Labour leadership, and I'm sure that both David Lammy, and Diane Abbott will understand why John Austin, former Member of Parliament for Erith & Thamesmead has contacted the new Home Secretary Theresa May with regard to the appalling treatment that we jointly received from the Met Police and the IPCC.

John Austin has proved to be a brave advocate for my critical FOOTBALL AGAINST RACISM IN EUROPE (FARE) JUSTICE NOT VENGEANCE FOCUS 1991-2010 case for the defence against NF/BNP entry-ism into London's Sporting/Planning Arena that began at the Old Addeyans FC/ Densitron International (now Technologies) PLC development here in South East London.

Both Parliament, and Prince William's FA, should be proud of John Austin's lion hearted FARE endeavours 2004-2010, which truly put Lord Triesman's recent World Cup 2018 bid 'efforts' to shame.

Last Friday 4th June 2010 I had an inaugural meeting with my new (due to a boundary change) Bexleyheath & Crayford MP David Evennett at his constituency office, 17 Church Road +, Bexleyheath.

David Evennett agreed to pursue the case on my behalf after reading the insane letter sent to me and John Austin by the Met Police Solicitor Andrea Cunningham, on the 19th January 2010, which attempted to bury the case with a file that she had 'made up' to replace the one lost by Bexley Borough Police after it had been passed to them by former Assistant Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur's Office.

After almost twenty years of cover up, excessive delays, lost files etc, the case is now in perfect focus for the UK Parliament's new Home Affairs Committee. The shock waves will I believe lead to changes at the Met Police, IPCC, and the MPA when the full suppressed truth finally emerges from the depths.

At the General Election former Met Police Inspector Michael Barnbrook, the malevolent neo-Nazi BNP Police Spokesman, stood as a candidate for MP in the Dagenham and Rainham Parliamentary constituency. Nick Griffin MEP, the BNP's leader stood as a candidate for MP in the neighbouring Parliamentary constituency of Barking. The BNP also put up candidates in all three London Borough of Bexley constituencies : Stephen James in Bexleyheath and Crayford : Kevin Saunders in Erith & Thamesmead : John Brooks in Old Bexley and Sidcup. The BNP Parliamentary AGENT FROM HELL 666, for Bexley's Parliamentary constituencies 999 +, was Mr Michael Barnbrook, 24 Holbeach Gardens, Sidcup, Kent DA15 8QW, which is on the doorstep of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School in Blackfen +

I would be failing in my professional 'duty of care' if I failed to identify, and actively oppose the evil on the doorstep of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School in Blackfen +, and in Greater London too.

I would therefore also like to dedicate my own anti-Nazi, You-Tube video performance at Barking & Dagenham Town Hall to England's first Green MP Caroline Lucas, BEXLEY'S CULTURAL OLYMPIAD POETRY WORKSHOPS, and the 2010 WORLD CUP IN SOUTH AFRICA TOO : YouTube - Roy Hobson's anti-Nazi performance in Barking & Dagenham 2007 (From Dark to Light Too) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pS9cKgj4UB4

Our Lady of the Rosary pray for us in BNP leader Nick Griffin MEP's EU/GLA/LDA/ODA NEO-NAZI DEVELOPMENT TIMES Amen

Yours sincerely

I was so disturbed by this message that I asked 'A Reluctant Sinner' http://areluctantsinner.blogspot.com/ to pray for your blog, and for my eternal soul too.

You, and Diane Abbott may both be interested in the following FOOTBALL AGAINST RACISM IN EUROPE 1991-2010 LEGAL CASE FOCUS:IPCC email message that I sent to my Tory Bexleyheath & Crayford MP David Evennett at 14:26 today just before kick-off of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa:

Dear David Evennett MP

Thank you for forwarding me a copy of the letter dated 9th June 2010 from IPCC Deputy Chair Deborah Glass, that responds to your own letter (not enclosed) dated 7th June 2010.

This response from Ms Glass merely reinforces the criticisms of bias, and incompetence made by the UK Parliament's Home Affairs Committee recent report on the IPCC. In the highly critical report, the MPs said investigations of complaints against the police took too long, were handled in an "unsatisfactory" way and lacked transparency.

The Met Police only responded to my letter dated 30th October 2009 after John Austin MP had written to them, and I had initiated yet another IPCC complaint against them.

You yourself have seen the insane response sent to me on the 19th (not 20th) January 2010 in which Andrea Cunningham, the Met Police solicitor 'makes up' a file to replace the one lost by Bexley Borough Police, after it had been sent to them by the former Met Police Assistant Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur.

The IPCC casework review mistakenly dated 21st February (should have been dated 21st April) 2010 was received by me on 23rd April 2010. Mr Vyvian Nugent the IPCC Casework Manager based in Cardiff, conveniently ignores excessive delays, lost files, and 'made up' files by the Met Police before he dismisses my appeal to the IPCC.

My evidence against both the IPCC, and the Met Police is so overwhelming that I believe it is unnecessary to challenge the latest spurious IPCC decision with yet another RCJ Judicial Appeal.

It would save us all both time and money if the Home Secretary was to follow up John Austin's suggestion to 'appoint a senior official to sit down with me and go through all the files to tease out the key issues'.

You may wish to raise your concerns in Parliament the next time you get an opportunity to speak.

Yours sincerely

@ Red Maria

As the RICS qualified surveyor for the UNITY PROJECT in the London Borough of Southwark I introduced the 'Black Madonna of Unity' Arts theme, which led firstly to the development of the Channel 4 film 'The Crossing' with the black film producer Faith Isiakpere, and then to the involvement of Ezra Attia's black interior designer Elaine Tomlinson.

This morning I sent a text to the BBC Radio London 94.9's breakfast show, which is hosted on Saturday mornings by Simon Lederman & Jo Good.

Simon kindly read out the following text to Jo Good, and 94.9's listeners:

Jo please invite Labour's UNITY candidate Diane Abbott on to your late show.Vesper

She is a Cambridge graduate who was at school with Michael Portillo. The other candidates are Male ,White, and Oxford, except for Burnham who is Cambridge, whereas she is Female, Black ,and Cambridge.

In terms of background and education they are all very similar.

She's scaled great heights by being a vacuous liberal media darling and miniature rightwing hate figure. Yes, she'd be hilarious. But it would be the worst thing to happen to the Labour Party since the non-election of Gordon Brown.

Agree entirely. Diane is the candidate to vote for (probably with Ed Miliband as 2nd preference), but we need to stop this fiasco from ever being repeated. All sections of the electoral college, not just the PLP, should be able to nominate for the leadership.
